Champion of Champions finals

This year’s Champion of Champions was a good one for Dun Laoghaire Bowling Club.

Both our Ladies’ and Men’s champions, Vivienne Beattie and Anto Gray performed really well and got through to the finals Sunday, 19th July.

In her semi-final, Vivienne was drawn against Helen Cummins from Ierne. It was a great game but Vivienne dug deep to come through to win. In the other ladies’ semi-final, Christine Naughton (Rosslare) beat Jennifer Heade (Crumlin).

The final was a fantastic match, with Vivienne narrowly in front until the very end when Christine put in some exceptional bowls to just clinch the title. It was very hard luck for Vivienne who had played so well.  

In the Men’s semi-final, Anto had a solid win against Frank O’Callaghan, from Aer Lingus. Meanwhile, Gareth Pierpoint (CYM) won the other semi-final so Gareth and Anto were set to do battle in the final.

Gareth, who was getting better and better as the tournament progressed, was literally stitching his bowls on the jack in the final. Gareth made it very difficult for Anto to get anything and so he went on to win the title.

Congratulations to Christine Naughton (Rosslare) and Gareth Pierpoint (CYM) on being the Champions of Champions for 2026 but also many congratulations to our champions, Vivienne and Anto.
